Delayed ROC price announcement from the UK Government finally confirmed

The UK Government has recently come under criticism for delaying the announcement of the ROC bandings for the period 2013 until 2017. The consultation document from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) proposed a 10% reduction to 0.9 ROCs per MW, however, this was met with opposition by the Treasury, who wished for deeper cuts of up to 25%. Uncertainty over what the levels of cuts would be was said to be harming investor confidence in the industry and a swift decision was necessary. After pressure from the Scottish Government, who chose to announce their ongoing support for Renewables by sticking to the 10% reduction ahead of the UK, the UK Government has finally announced that they too will reduce the ROCs subsidy for onshore wind by 10%. However, unlike the Scottish Government, they will only do so with a further review in 2014.
